Dual Language Readers Abound
Funded Dec 4, 2024Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. Your donations made it possible to build our Spanish library. This has been such a need in our classroom, as students are building their Dual language proficiency. The students have been enjoying these books with partners, as well as independently. I have also used some of the books to read aloud and build lessons around the reading.
It really has been amazing to see the students engaged in reading these books. They were so excited when they first saw them. They wanted to start reading them as soon as they saw them. I am so grateful to you all for helping with this project.”

Funded Oct 18, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom library. This collection of books made it possible for us to engage in many wonderful discussions regarding the powerful message of this book. Students gained a different perspective from every chapter in the book. Students were able to apply this new insight into their peer relations in class. Being able to read about Auggie and the many challenges he had to face, changed the way they related to peers in the classroom.
Having this wonderful resource has allowed for me to utilize this book in different ways. I've been able to assign reading in the classroom, as well as for home work. I've been able to do independent reading, small group discussions and whole group discussions.
It truly has made it possible to develop different learning opportunities. Thank you for making this possible.”

Funded Dec 7, 2017The stopwatches have really improved the way students prepared for the pacer test. They were really excited to be able to partner up and keep track of their time running laps. It developed a competitiveness among them. It really helped students prepare for the pacer test.
I have been utilizing these stopwatches with current students as well. I have utilized them for different physical education activities. It has really helped with developing physical education stations. I truly appreciate your contribution to our classroom.”

Funded Dec 20, 2016Words cannot express the gratitude I feel in receiving these wonderful music recorders to use in the classroom. I have been able to teach students the fundamentals of the music recorder. They have been able to play simple notes and tunes. They were able to play the beginning notes to Star Wars using their own recorder, without having to worry about sharing with anyone else in the school.
When students first received the recorders to use in the classroom, they were overjoyed that they did not have to share with other students in the class. They could not believe that they had their very own recorder to use. They were so excited to try them out. They kept asking what music they were going to be able to play on it. They came up with some great suggestions of songs they could try out. I explained to them that after learning how to play it well, they would be able to try out more complicated songs. I could see they couldn't wait to get started.
I am so excited to teach my students more complicated songs, once they are more familiar and have more practice with playing the recorder. I have been thinking of having them practice a couple of songs to play for an end of the year school program. I cannot wait to hear how they do.”

Budding Artists Need The Essentials
Funded May 25, 2016When I first received the oil pastel sets, I was eager to begin our first art project for the year. Art is a subject that my students are really thrilled about. I received professional development in art recently and I was excited to try one of the lessons I learned. I had created my own mandala using oil pastels and I tried it out with my students as soon as I had the materials ready. They created their own mandalas using their own unique spin to it. They created some designs I was really impressed with, some were much better than my own sample. It was a lesson that took us a few days to complete but it was well worth it. They turned out amazing and they look great in our school bulletin board
When I handed out the oil pastel sets to my students, all I could hear were oohs and ahhs from them as they saw the variety in colors. They keep asking me, if they had to share and if they had to return them. They just couldn't believe that they were going to be using these wonderful materials in our classroom more than once, and that they had their own to use. The excitement in their faces was priceless.
I hope to continue using these oil pastels to work on different art projects throughout the school year. My next project is to focus on specific artists and creating works of art inspired by them.”

Artists Need Tools
Funded Mar 10, 2016I cannot begin to tell you how much your donation has meant to me and my students. Because of your donation we were able to complete a project using our brand new watercolors. We had been learning about Vincent Van Gogh in a Language Arts lesson and we were able to use one of his paintings as inspiration to create our own Sunflower painting using the watercolors. The result was amazing. I displayed their artwork in our hallway for Open House. The parents were really impressed. These watercolor sets are amazing because they have so many different colors. There was no need to mix colors to make the needed color. That was great. My students really loved that. When my students first saw the watercolor sets, their first reaction was, "Wow, look at all the colors!" I am already planning our next art lesson with the watercolors. We are going to be making a connection to math and creating an art piece using different angles and filling in the different spaces with watercolors. I cannot wait! This would not have been possible without your help.”
