Students will be tasked with creating a classified folder for one of three Revolutions. Students will create a where they identify where, when, why, and how this revolution occurred. The Unit Project addresses these standard (among others): SS.9-12.WH.20 Investigate the evolutions of belief systems, religions, philosophies, and ideologies across human societies. SS.9-12.WH.33 Create, interpret, and utilize maps that display and explain the geo-spatial patterns of cultural, economic, political, and environmental characteristics
This unit project is an immersive unit where students will be simulating elements of the French Revolution, Latin American Revolution, And Enlightenment Revolution. To begin, students will be given snacks as currency and divided into three categories, mirroring society of the French Revolution. The upper tier will mirror the nobility and function in a similar fashion of the reception of taxes. The lower tiers will be tasked with providing currency to the upper class after completing tasks to receive more. This immersive demonstration will allow students time to interact with one another in their tiers while they recover from times of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will help students achieve the learning goal of being able to describe the cultural history of France/Latin America in the 1700s. The wall tapestry is to aid students in the creation of their maps which will go into their end of unit folders. Students will be tasked with creating maps that illustrate where these events actually occur in the world. Incorporating elements of Geography into a World History class has been challenging with no maps. The hardcover sketch books allow students to create a story about their characters experience in the chosen revolution. The additional supplies help establish an environment where all supplies are provided and the learning experiences are equitable.
