My students often do learning on the floor as they are 2nd graders. I work at a Title I-funded school with 70% of my students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and a majority of these same kids are also second language learners. They recently informed me that sitting on the floor was uncomfortable and that I needed a carpet. The way that they made this request was both honest and respectful. I feel as though they do deserve this amenity. They have spent their last 2 years in limbo during COVID-19 and this is their first full-time year of learning. I would like to make it special and comfortable for them while they learn. In addition, the kids helped me pick out the carpet that they would like in our classroom. They were very conscious of cost and wanted to keep the price below $200. Again, I would love to give this amazing group of kids something that they requested to make learning easier for all of them.
