  • Hope Givers

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you again for providing markers, colored pencils, and watercolors. The students are having a ball using them for various things. One ongoing project that we are using them for is Reader's Notebooks. This notebook has illustrations and colored coded sentences that we use to refer back to a topic we are studying.

When the students first saw the materials they were shocked. They thought we were separating them for the primary students. Once they realized that they each got their own set of supplies they were so happy!

We are currently working on biographies in ELA/Social studies. They are using materials to paint or draw a portrait of someone famous.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maddox

  • Keeping Clean When You're a Preteen

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you for your generosity and support. The students have enjoyed having immediate access to personal hygiene products in the classroom. When the supples arrived many of the students mentioned that felt like they were in a store and love having the things they need. Some of them come from families with multiple teenagers and things like deodorant are shared with siblings so having that at school guarantees that they can feel fresh and clean all day long.

The next steps as we wrap up the school year, is to allow the students that need it to take home a care package for the summer!”

  • It's TIME for Kids!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you again for your support in this campaign. It has been a game changer in the classroom.

Finding informational text that is interesting to 12 year olds can often be a challenge. However, Time for Kids gives them articles that peak their interests and leave them asking for more. My students enjoy sitting in the library with their magazines or just reading it with a partner. We use this a lot on Fridays to help wind down the week, but it also keeps them engaged.

My students look forward to receiving their magazines each week!”

  • Let's Get Moving

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Thank you again for your donations to our Let's Get Moving project. The kids were so excited to receive new equipment for the playground. When we first opened the boxes, we had a few of the students help organize them on the carts. Their eyes lit up and they couldn't believe that so much had been donated to them.

Since receiving the items, the children have been more active on the playground during recess and p.e. There were many times when they had to wait to play soccer because there weren't enough balls for the students that just wanted to kick the ball to a partner. With more than enough equipment outside everyone is enjoying recess.

The most popular equipment by far is basketballs. We have several courts on the playground but never seemed to have enough balls for several games to go on at once. Now that we have the new equipment, the students that just want to practice free throws don't have to wait until a full game is over before they can participate.

Thank you again for your generosity to our project.”

  • Classroom Library Needs a Makeover!

    Funded Oct 22, 2021

Thank you so much for your contributions to our library. Because of your donations, my students have been able to practice their fluency, comprehension skills, and vocabulary skills.

Many of my students do not have access to age-appropriate books at home. Having a variety of books in the classroom allows them to check out the books they want to read and take them home. Many now enjoy reading over the weekend and are eager to start a new book on Mondays. The Percy Jackson series has been the favorite so far! They are already asking for the next set of books in the next series.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maddox

These books will enhance the print-rich classroom that I have created. My classroom library is a place that my students enjoy getting lost in books. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. They have recommended the books that they would love to have in the classroom. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
