The curriculum, workbooks, and easel will provide myself and our Student Success Center the proper tools to facilitate meaningful groups addressing the social and emotional (SEL) competencies of the CASEL Wheel including self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management, and relationship skills. These tools will provide the foundation for our groups and individual sessions to help foster the growth of these skills, which have been impacted in various ways following the year of distance education due to COVID. Further, the curriculum and workbook offers meaningful insight into specialty areas including trauma, depression, and anxiety.
My students love to engage in hands on learning opportunities! The games I have selected will provide the students an opportunity to learn and practice the SEL competencies in a fun and interactive way. These games may allow for further connection with their peers and better understanding of the tools they can utilize not only at school but in their every day living. The goal of the games selected will be to help foster self-esteem, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and so much more! Our students have immense responsibilities both within and outside of school. So, I have included craft supplies to further encourage interactive learning as well as an opportunity to be just what they are, children! Our students have been facing difficult challenges and the hope is, with this project, we can further support their resiliency and growth!
