The materials and supplies that I am requesting for our library habitat will encourage students to take pride and leadership in their learning activities. Students need a pleasant, inviting, enjoyable place where they can hang out, learn through activities, and read for enjoyment and learning. The stapler, scissors, colored pencils and other classroom supplies will be used by the students to complete library learning projects like genre posters, blackout poetry, illustrating book jackets, and creating multimedia projects. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During silent sustained reading they can choose a location in the classroom that works for them. The bulletin board decorations and inspirational decor will assure an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere where students want to hang out. The historical reading materials will readily teach students about moments in history such as 9/11, Veteran's Day, and other holidays that have actual meaning. I have seen how choice and availability can have an impact on student engagement and demeanor. I hope these additional resources will help us to grow even more in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic where students missed out on a lot of educational time and resources.
