I know that these seating options will help my students grow by allowing each child to learn how they are most comfortable. I know this because I bought four floor cushions to try out with a lowered table to begin our school year. Not only have I seen students stay engaged and focused, but every child in class begs to sit on a cushion daily! When rotating between chairs and cushions, the way students are engaged, learning, and overall more content using the cushions, is absolutely mind blowing! The cushions are also helping everyone learn in a safer way; no standing in chairs, leaning on chair legs, bouncing in chairs, and more. My teacher neighbor let our class “test” two of her wobble stools for our guided reading table for a few weeks and these also proved to be a game changer. While using these stools during guided reading groups, students were more engaged in their books and comfortable. There were less distractions, wiggles, and noise. Overall, I’m seeing major success when students are able to learn where they are most comfortable!
