Our school district has just completed a kitchen for our Special Education students with moderate to severe disabilities, however there was not any additional funding to supply the household appliances needed for daily living skills training. It is our intent and focus to teach these students how to navigate within a typical kitchen so that they are fully able to function various low level kitchen appliances once they graduate high school. This will allow them the opportunity to gain a sense of independence and freedom so that when presented with having to prepare meals, they will have the confidence and ability to perform these tasks for a healthy life-style.
