Many of my students are just starting school for the first time. When you are three years old, learning needs to be inviting, fun, and exciting. My kids learn through hands-on learning and play. They thrive when they have manipulatives to learn with. The hands-on alphabet manipulatives are great for learning the alphabet. Students get to touch, feel, and hold different objects that begin with each letter. This type of learning will help my students relate the letter to real-life objects. We also utilize task boxes in our classroom. Many of our kiddos need short and simple tasks like learning pegs, counting activities, fine motor tasks, and lacing. We use a timer for each kid as it helps them understand when a task will begin and end. Using hands-on activities and play will create a meaningful interactive learning experience for our kids! It can also be very hard for 3 and four year-olds to sit for long periods of time. The bean bags, soft seats, and other types of flexible seating make it exciting to sit at circle time or in the library to read a book! These activities such as the fine motor animals, squeeze scoop and count, and peg pictures will help our kids practice fine motor skills. We also do lots of crafts with tissue paper and coloring. The textured boards will help some of our kids with sensory needs. The magnetic color maze will help our children learn about colors and fine motor skills!
