My goal this year is to teach students that no matter what we live through and experience we are stronger than we think! With everything that has happened with COVID and all of the changes we have had to make to our everyday lives students have had to relearn their way of living. The books I have chosen for this project teach about adversity and how we can overcome almost anything with a little bit of courage. Students will learn how to deal with the many strong emotions that come with change and challenges. They will relate to characters who may have gone through similar changes or struggles. Students need someone to connect with emotionally, even if it is a character in a book! We also listen to many audiobooks using our devices in class especially for our students who have a second language! RF.3.4c - Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary. RL.3.1 - Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. RI.3.6 - Distinguish their own point of view from that of the author of a text. RI.3.10 - By the end of the year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, at the high end of the grades 2-3 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
