  • Desperate for Technology!

    Funded Feb 7, 2012

We are so grateful for your generosity, thanks to your contributions we now access our computer daily. We have implemented a schedule that allows for two children a day during independent work time, which is a time allocated for small group intervention, while other children work on various activities or centers ( designated area with an instruction driven activity).

Using our computer has been a fantastic experience, we are now looking forward to utilizing it as a word processor to publish our written work. We hope to do that soon!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrillo Jimenez

  • Bringing Native Americans To Life!

    Funded May 17, 2011

My students and I have been joyously and anxiously awaiting for our materials. The children and I have been planning lessons and activities to execute as soon as our materials arrive. We sincerely appreciate your contributions, support towards our learning goals. We are incredibly lucky that there are many caring individuals who support education. You have made an incredible impact on my students. Many of my students disliked Social Studies, fortunately, now that they've had an opportunity to access this subject area in creatively or in an unconventional way, I can see how my students' vocabulary, reading, writing and knowledge of content have improved. Student have an understanding of all California Natives their customs, art, tradition, beliefs, and how they employed resources withing their region to survive.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrillo Jimenez

This classroom project was brought to life by University of Phoenix and 10 other donors.
My students are hard working children who are eager to learn and show great excitement when they get to learn kinesthetically, visually, and through drama. They're Mexican-American students that come from disadvantaged backgrounds attending a Title 1 school, on the free meal plan. Unfortunately, because we are a low performing school with a large population of English Language Learners, our curricular emphasis is Language Arts and not in the Arts and Science. I strive to integrate as many curricular areas in creative ways to address my students and teach Grade level Standards and expose them to as many experiences that they may not get outside of school.
