The supplies that we are looking to purchase will help our students enrolled in Ag classes such as Ag Science I, Animal Science, and Food Science complete the hands-on portion of each lesson. We use the CASE curriculum and to get the most from it, students need the supplies to do the labs associated with each lesson. To do this they will learn more, since these are all hands-on opportunities. With these hands-on opportunities students will learn while doing, which has been shown to be the best way people learn. There are a variety of standards which each of these items will cover listed below. Ag Science I Standards: 5.2, 5.4, Animal Science Standards: 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, and Food Science standards: 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.1.4, 3.1.5, 3.1.6. With these supplies students in Animal Science students will get to have the first hand experience of dissecting fetal pigs to learn the basic anatomy of animals, they will also get to look at the various reproductive tracts and digestive systems in livestock. The Food Science students will have the opportunity to use the various chemicals to help determine the different nutrients in the foods we eat. The Ag Science I students will get the opportunity to utilize the Rockwool and some of the chemicals to learn how to germinate seeds and successful grow vegetables. All of these supplies will enhance the level of learning for each student enrolled in Ag class.
