Supplies for Success!
Funded Oct 20, 2021Thank you so much for your donations. Your donations contributed for supplies to help our students succeed. When we received the packages, our students were over moon. They were excited to have their own individual supplies. Especially while teaching with COVID so relevant, the students having their own supplies was imperative for their success. Not only did that help us teachers follow COVID guidelines, but it also helped our students feel more comfortable, confident, and prepared to learn.
We used the wipe boards, markers, and erasers daily. The students engage in our math and English Language Arts lessons with the wipe boards. In math, we do many different activities with our wipe boards. One of my student's favorite activities is when I put BOOM cards on the promethean board and they race to solve the problems on their wipe board. My students get so excited to raise their boards in the air with the math work that they completed. The wipe boards that your donation supported also helps our students feel more confident and less afraid to make mistakes. My students know that it's an opportunity to take a chance and try to solve problems knowing that it can easily be erased. In English Language Arts, we use these boards in a variety of ways. The students enjoy using them for our comprehension talks. While reading class chapter books, the students get to come up with their own comprehension questions about the chapter on the wipe boards. The students then get to share their questions with their partners and answer each other questions. After our students have worked super hard or need a brain break. We allow the students to use the wipe boards for games like tic tac toe or hangman. These wipe boards have made such a great impact in our classroom and we are so thankful for your donations toward them.
My students also love having their own highlighters and pens. Third grade is the first year the students take a state test. This can be very intimidating for my students. For the state test, being able to find text evidence in passages is imperative. Since the students now have their own highlighters, they are able to highlight their text evidence in passages in order to support their multiple choice answers and long answers. After they have used their highlighters to find text evidence, they then get to use their colorful pens. Something about using pens really excites my students. The students get to check their own multiple choice answers using their pens. The students also get to check their friend's responses using their pens. Doing this allows my third graders to take responsibility and feel mature while preparing for our state test.
The ink and paper that your donations went to has been essential to our classroom. Having a printer in our room makes my planning for my variety of learners so much more simple. I can easily print out differentiated worksheets and activities for my students.
Thank you all again for your donations!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Suarez
