  • Classroom Novels for Diverse Readers!

    Thank you so much for the generous donation to my English 2 Resource High School classes. Thanks to you, we were able to get class sets of some great novels that I knew my high school students would truly enjoy reading!

    One of the novels I bought with the donation, was "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. Almost all of my students said they had never read this book, and I knew that they would love it! We just started reading it this past week, and I can honestly say that I've never seen my students (especially my male students) so engaged in reading a novel! Every day they ask if we are reading more!!!! That's definitely a great sign.

    My students and I would like to thank you for your generous donation. Not only will they enjoy the novels we will read in class together, but hopefully it will motivate and excite them to read on their own, and hopefully for years to come.”

I have a diverse group of 6th grade students and many do not read at home at all, and some have parents that do not speak English at all. My hope is to improve reading fluency, as well as speaking and listening skills by providing great classroom novels for my classroom library as well as some individual novels for my students to read independent. My students and I thank you in advance for the funding of these novels! I know that this will help foster a lifelong love of easing for all my students.
