My name is Ms. K. and I work with students with communication disorders. This could be language (such as learning vocabulary, putting 3+ word utterances, describing, categorizing, etc.) or speech sounds (saying "pie" for "spy"). By giving objects that are exciting and motivating, students will more independently participate in communication about their environment. This will help increase social interactions, engage conversation, and work on requesting/protesting. This will give them a chance to interact with their peers and environment, which may have been impacted due to COVID-19. ISL.K.1- SL.12.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly. SL.K.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups. SL.K.4 Describe familiar people, places, things, and events and, with prompting and support, provide additional detail. SL.1.4 Describe people, places, things, and events with relevant details, expressing ideas and feelings clearly.
