My students are highly motivated when they get to have choice in how to practice the skills they have learned. I will use the math folder games, math manipulatives, and logic puzzles as centers during small group math instruction. These items will also be used during independent work for early finishers to challenge their minds and continue to grow. These games will allow students to practice all third grade math standards as well as second grade math standards that may not have been mastered due to the COVID 19 Pandemic in a way that is fun and exciting. The math manipulatives will help in small group math instruction for students that are more visual and hands on learners. The logic puzzles will encourage and challenge students to think about things in new ways and build their logic skills. My students are more focused and successful when they are encouraged to choose their own engaging hands on activities. I will use the reading comprehension folder games and Finding Evidence Comprehension Kits as centers during small group ELA instruction. These activities will allow students to practice all third grade ELA standards and practice second grade ELA standards that they may not have mastered due to COVID in an engaging way. The magnetic letters will help my students that need phonics practice by creating words in a hands on way. I am excited to see my students become more excited and motivated to learn by having more choice in their centers.
