Learning To Read Is A Marathon, Not A Sprint
Funded Sep 29, 2022My students have had such a positive experience using some of the materials donated. The finger trackers have served my students well. There has been some improvement in their fluency when reading aloud. The pen reader has help to open a world of books to some of my older students.
In the beginning, the students thought that the trackers and the colored overlays were a little weird. They had to learn how to used them and were a little awkward at first. Once they mastered how to use the materials, they became more confident and even requested to use them.
It has ben a real growing experience not only for my students but also for my practice.”

Funded Aug 23, 2022The beginning of the school year can be difficult. Teachers come out of pocket for so many supplies, we can't always get all the supplies we need. I never imagined that this would actually work. Thanks to the donors generosity, my students have been able to enjoy the materials. It has helped me as a teacher provide different experiences for my students by providing us with materials that will kick start our year. There is still much work to be done because this pandemic is relentless. However, with donors like yourself, every little makes a difference.
My students have really engaged with the materials. We have all the basics we need now, like pencils, pens and paper. It has also been a relief to not have to ask parents for supplies. Times right now are hard and supply cost have gone up.
We will continue to work against the effects of this pandemic.”

Color Should Not Be an Option
Funded Feb 8, 2022Thank you so much for you contributions. The ability to be a able to print in color has made an incredible impact on my students with reading disabilities. Using colors to individually point out sounds helps students with blending. Reading colored printable books, makes the stories more engaging to students.
What has been most exciting is the ability to share my resources with colleagues. Because of your donations, I am able to help more than just my students, but others as well. Something as simple as color can make a huge difference in how students engage in learning.”

Desperately Seeking Seating!
Funded Dec 27, 2021Yayy!! We are so excited with our new furniture. My 4th and 5th graders can now sit and work comfortably. Sometimes we underestimate the value of comfort and learning. It is difficult to learn if you are not in the best space, especially for my special needs students. My kids are now able to produce work in an environment that is inviting and appropriate. Also they just love the look! They are so excited to come to the room.
Working in a Title 1 schools, we are not always privy the new and shiny. Our new furniture makes the student's feel like we are in a different place. We love it so much.
Thank You Donors!”

Make Meaning Out of Reading!
Funded Dec 27, 2021I was so fortunate to receive funding for our library. Having an assortment of text made our mini library more inviting. The books chosen were specifically chosen to teach early reading skills. In my room older students get to practice their reading skills in privacy, without any embarrassment. I serve these young and struggling scholars in a small group or on an individual basis. My younger students enjoy having text that are accessible to their levels.
One of my students, enjoys the mini library the most. After our activities she often ask to read or borrow a book. She loves finding as many sight words as she can. She feels most proud when she can read a book in its entirety.
Thanks Donors!”

Getting A Handle on the Covid Slide!
Funded Oct 25, 2021I never imagined that this would actually work. Thanks to the donors generosity, my students have been able to enjoy the materials. It has helped me as a teacher provide different experiences for my students in terms of learning to read and getting behind the Covid Slide. There is still much work to be done because this pandemic is relentless. However, with donors like yourself, every little makes a difference.
My students have really engaged with the materials donated but have particularly enjoyed the literacy games. "The Match and Sort Language Quickies" and the "Can Do Reading Game" have become a group favorite. Students who are low level readers feel less discouraged practicing foundational skills in this way.
We will continue to work against the effects of this pandemic.”
