Ms. Rodriguez' Life-long Readers

Funded Nov 22, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my 4th grade classroom, we have so many new books for our students to love and enjoy. With the books that we were able to buy, we are able to focus on different genres and skills within those genres. We have so many books that show the characteristics of genres, allowing students to see a variety of the same genre. With the fiction texts, we are able to focus on plot, character relationships, theme, among so much more. With the fiction texts we received, we are able to focus on finding and using text/graphic features to help further our understanding of the text. These texts also allow us to focus on main skills of non-fiction, such as main idea, summary, and text structure.

My students love to check in and out new books that match their interest. As soon as students finish their books, they are always hoping to be in the library choosing new books. We love to read during independent and shared reading because it allows us to get lost in our books. We have our reading carpet with pillows and different options for seating. This allows us to be as comfortable as possible as we cuddle up with our books.

While choosing the items y'all helped us get, I made sure to get books that I knew my students would love. I chose The Babysitters Club, a graphic novel, because I knew that my students found these books to be especially interesting. As this series has a lot of a realistic plots and themes that my students can identify with. I also chose Pokemon books because I've watched their Pokemon battles during recess and their Pokemon club. My students have so many different interests, so I did my best to find books that would fit them. We have fiction, realistic fiction, graphic novels, non-fiction, and how-to books.

We are so thankful that you took your time to help us with new books, y'all are the best!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Rodriguez
