Brooklyn Art Students Need Fun Supplies!
Funded Feb 17, 2022My students have had a great time, especially as the year winds down, engaging in explorative play using the wire and collage materials provided from this project. I gave students a few pieces of wire each, and before showing them different techniques I asked them to experiment with what they could create - they could try anything they wanted. Some made bracelets, others abstract human and animal forms, some intricate twisty-curly miniature sculptures. It was great to watch them freely explore!
We used the collage materials to finish a printmaking unit, turning the project into mixed-media artwork! Students learned a lot about composition and taking creative risks, even if those risks don't always "work out."
Thank you so much to the donors who helped this small project get funded. My students were so excited to try some new things! These materials got my students' hands on new ways of creating, and for that, we are very grateful!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kesten
Art Students Need Art Supplies? Who Knew!
Funded Dec 7, 2021This was my first Donor's Choose Project, and I'm forever grateful for your support! This list of materials for this project ranged and all went towards completely different lessons - my 7th and 8th graders were able to explore printmaking, my 6th graders got to paint on canvas for the first time, and my 7th and 8th graders were able to experience color mixing through the use of acrylic paint! None of this would have been possible without your donations to supply us with the necessary resources.
My students FREAKED when they found out we had all the acrylics, canvas boards, and printmaking materials that we needed. They are a creative bunch and enjoy exploring all sorts of artistic avenues. This project made that possible for them! In the coming weeks, I'm going to put even more of our printmaking materials to use for a 6th grade project - they have never made prints before, so it's going to be exciting!
I can't thank you all enough for your donations - it opened up a world of opportunity for my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kesten
