Our students study Rhythm, Melody, Harmony, Form, and Expressiveness through movement, singing, playing, reading/writing, listening, discussion, etc. Students are eager to play xylophones as they explore the concepts of melody and harmony. Our school is fortunate to have several xylophones for students to play. Unfortunately, there are not enough instruments for a class, which hinders student participation time. The addition of an alto xylophone will mean less waiting time for eager hands to joyfully play beautiful music! As they play, students will accompany each other by playing harmonic patterns; they will learn to play melodic phrases; they will improvise new melodies of their own creation. The students will once again be able to take advantage of creating music in the same room, which is ideal for building communication, teamwork, community, and empathy. NVACs: MU:Cr Conceiving and developing new artistic work and ideas; MU:Pr Realizing artistic ideas and work through interpretation and presentation; MU:Re Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning; MU:Cn Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context. Thank you very much for your consideration and your support of education.
