Since returning to the building I am trying to engage my students as much as possible. This project will enhance my students’ educational experience because they are special needs students and do not have organizational skills. My students will benefit directly as a result of being able to use calculators to create and solve equations. This will allow them to complete processes such as prime factorization and finding the greatest common factor to write distributive property equations (6.NS.B.4). They will also benefit the students throughout the year as well. As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, my students really need to work on all areas of math. This project will help them in this area.
Also, the materials I am requesting, pouches and organizers, will nurture my students’ interest in organization. Having different items assigned to students will hopefully show them how to stay organized within the classroom and learn personal responsibility. My hope is that the artwork and decor that I've added, as well as the technology, will make a qualitative difference in the climate in my classroom and create a group of lifelong learners.
