  • Printer to Help Students With Visual Impairments!

    Funded Nov 23, 2023

I am so thankful for your generous donations to this project. My students will benefit from this project for years to come and that was only possible from your generosity. This technology will aid in the ability to assist my students with visual impairments to learn crucial literacy and visual efficiency skills. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cantrell

  • Technology to Help Students With Visual Impairments!

    Funded Mar 7, 2023

This technology has had a wonderful impact on my students with visual impairments. This item makes it possible to help my students learn accessibility features that are the most up to date. In addition, my students have been using this device to practice their visual efficiency skills such as tracking and scanning with the assistance of different websites.

Some of my students have especially enjoyed being able to see if this type of device will be a sufficient tool for them to use in the future for their educational programming. This is important when students are transitioning from elementary into middle school. By being able to have this technology, I feel like as their teacher it equips me to better meet their needs in a timely manner.

Thank you again for allowing my students and I the opportunity to have this type of technology to use to better meet their needs on a day to day basis. It is truly a blessing and lifesaver.”

  • A Multi-Sensory Approach for Teaching Students With Visual Impairments!

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

The tactile materials have been a huge hit with my students with visual impairments. My little ones love to look at and interact with the books that I am able to adapt on a weekly basis. They are having a very fun time experiencing these during my instructional time!

What I have found that has been most impactful is the interaction with the books that have been adapted to meet their needs. A lot of the time many of my students miss out and getting to see the pictures when books are read aloud and having the texture piece added in makes for much for fun experience. I have seen my students transform into being actively interested in reading where as before they were not.

Thank you again for your contribution to my instructional program for students with visual impairments! They are very appreciative as well and want me to say thank you on their behalf!”

  • Accessories to Help Protect iPads to Work With Students!

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your support of these iPad accessories for my students. The impact that these have had for my students is extremely positive. The accessories make sure that the technology is well taken care of while students are using the iPads. Unfortunately, accidents do happen but having the ability to protect the technology is imperative.

An additional added bonus is that the iPad cases present the iPad at an angle to assist with presenting visual materials for my students with visual impairments. They are able to adjust it to better meet their individual visual needs.

Thank you again for your sincere generosity for this project and the impact it has made and will continue to make in the further!”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading and Writing Materials for Students With Visual Impairments!

    Funded Nov 29, 2021

Thank you so much for the materials that I was able to receive through your donations. These materials enabled my students to have very specific items selected for them based on their visual impairment. Each student that I teach has a very unique eye condition and meeting their needs can be a daunting task. With the materials that were purchased, I had the autonomy to select items that I knew would be beneficial to them.

For example, a student that has been diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment, has a wide array of symptoms associated with this eye condition that can be difficult for educators to meet. These materials enabled me to select items to work with that would be beneficial for students with different phases of CVI.

Thank you again for the opportunity to better serve my students with visual impairments by being equipped with instructional materials that meet their unique needs!”

  • Technology To Help Students With Visual Impairments! #2

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

I want to take this time and sincerely thank you for your contributions to this special project. This iPad Pro has significantly helped my students be able to access materials in a new way. By having such a larger screen it makes it much easier to be able to have them view items during my instructional time.

In addition, this piece of technology has enabled me to have some students try it out to make better planning preparations for the next year to come. You see, this device can assist some of my students in their everyday classroom routine and by having it with me for instruction, I can make better decisions on their program planning.

With the short time I've been able to use this technology it has been a huge blessing for my students with visual impairments! I want to say thank you again and I'm also sending a huge thank you from my students as well!”

    Mrs. Cantrell

This project is very important to me due to making the material I work with my students more accessible. While having a larger screen enables me to have students view at a more comfortable working distance and have the advantages of the Apple accessibility features already built into their system such as Zoom, Voiceover, and simply just a larger screen. While most iPads my students use are only 9 inches the extra 3 inches the iPad pro offers will be beneficial for student viewing. This is especially true when students have to zoom in for content they are working on! Most of the time my younger students have a difficult time finding items on a smaller screen due to losing their place on the page or iPad application we are using that day for instruction. For many of my students the iPad I use to work with them may be their first time being taught any of the accessibility features the iPad's have for our students with visual impairments and I want it to be a positive experience!
