Our long term goal is to get this book into the hands of every student in our Jr. High building. As teachers, we want to create a community of readers. We want to create a school of readers discussing the plot twists and predicted outcomes of the SAME text. We want to talk this book in the classrooms, in the hallways, in the cafeteria with all students, all teachers, all staff, and all administration. We want to unite as a student body over one realistic fiction story. Jason Reynolds through A Long Way Down will allow us this common conversation piece. We want to forge relationships through common reading.
