  • Read, Learn, Eat, Repeat!

    Funded Dec 25, 2023

What a wonderful surprise! My students and I are on winter break and when we return they are going to be so excited to get these materials we need for our classroom. Everything in my project will be used right away by all of my fifth grade students. I have already gotten feedback from parents this year that for the first time their kids are actually excited to read books. Thank you for supporting me, and more importantly, supporting the kids. Happy Holidays!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Macheski

  • Writers for Life

    Funded Oct 18, 2021

I wanted to thank you for your kindness and generosity in helping my fifth-graders share their stories. The journals you purchased for my classroom allowed my kids to collaborate with each other and become stronger writers. During a difficult time in their life, returning to school after a period of uncertainty, these daily journal entries helped them stay motivated and access their feelings.

When I first told the class about our daily journal writing, they were so nervous! During the first week, some were only able to write 1 or 2 sentences. With daily practice using these journals by this point in the school year the 5th graders are confidently writing 5 paragraph stories about their lives.

Thank you for making an impact in my classroom. The 5th graders in room 43 know that these journals were made in a donation for them and it is really neat to see how much they have come to value their writing time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Macheski

Journals will help my students make their learning concrete, share ideas, record what they are passionate about, and become confident writers. I plan to use these every morning to start my day with a different and unique quick write prompt for my students to engage with. Students will use their journals every morning, and will have the opportunity to share their ideas with the class. The journal writing will support their social-emotional learning and their writing proficiency. I have a large class size and our chairs make a lot of noise on the tile floor. The chair socks will be extremely helpful during transitions when students are trying to be polite and push their chairs in for me.
