I am requesting Big Joe Dorm chairs, copy paper, lap desks, and more. These art-oriented supplies will allow students who have felt creatively stifled throughout online learning to once again demonstrate mastery of key concepts and skills in creative, unique, and ingenious ways. This opens the door for creating one-page mini-projects in response to a text, or visual representations which demonstrate mastery of key rhetorical concepts and persuasive strategies, which may then be transferred to writing. Many students are experiencing an extreme aversion to digitized learning right now. Allowing a tactile, kinetic outlet will motivate and reenergize students feeling the weight of educational digitization. The resources in this project will also aid students in adapting to a social model of learning after a year and a half of isolation. The flexible seating will allow some students with aversions to the stiff and individual nature of classroom seating to adapt and work comfortably and collaboratively. These options might be especially useful for collaborative small group projects or activities, such as peer review sessions for writing or planning meetings for presentations. Collaborative learning is especially effective and fostering metacognition encourages student responsibility and goal orientation.
