These fidgets, lighting and furniture materials will be used to create mindfulness and calming areas on our campus. CoVid-19 has caused most, if not all, of our students to experience some level of trauma. As a school counselor, it is my job to teach the new mental health standards that revolve around stress and coping stragegies (1.ME.1 and 1.ME.2 for kindergarten through 5th grade). Our mindful and calming areas will give students a safe place and the materials needed to practice the coping skills they learn when they become angry, frustrated, agitated or scared.
