These resources will not only be used to promote NVAC standards, but also the social emotional needs of our students. My items purchased through this project will be used to help students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions across diverse cultural contexts. Nevada has adopted Five Core Competencies from the Collaborative of Academic, Social and Emotional Learning. According to CASEL, they are defined as: Self-awareness: Students will use the journals to write positive daily affirmations and journal their feelings.W.7.4 Self-management: Students will be setting behavior and academic goals in classes. The charts and stickers will be used to track these goals. Students will earn the water bottle stickers, pencil toppers, etc. as rewards for meeting their goals. Social awareness: Students will use the apology notecards to write apologies (restorative justice) when needed. W.7.4 Relationship skills: Students can use the notecards to write birthday notes for friends, teachers, and family members. The can also use the blank notecards for other events as needed.W.7.4
