Changing Lives Through Sewing

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity for the new sewing machines and supplies for the "Changing Lives Through Sewing" project. The much needed and appreciated supplies made such a difference to the students.

The students were so excited when the new machines and other supplies arrived. When I started this project last year with the goal of teaching a life skill to students, the ratio of students to machines was 4:1. After generous donations that ratio went to 2:1, and at times 1:1. The children were able to learn so much more because they had more time on the machines.

There was one student who worked hard and dedicated extra time to sewing so that she could make her first quilt. The look of excitement, pride, and accomplishment on her face as she created her own quilt made the entire project worthwhile. The other students decided to make pet blankets to donate to the area animal shelter. We ended up with over 20 blankets of differing sizes to donate. The kids really loved being able to give back to another worthwhile cause.

The goal is to teach a new group of students each year some basic sewing skills and instill a lifelong love of sewing in them. Again, thank you so much for helping to make such a big impact to an ever increasing number of students.”
