  • Fixing Stress and Anxiety in High Schoolers

  • Floor Pillows for Fun Learning

    The students are really enjoying the floor pillows. The students look forward to using the floor pillows during class. The students enjoy using the floor pillows when charging computers, working in small groups, or using it as a station marker. One particular class asks every class period when they can use the floor pillows.

    My students were thrilled when they first saw the floor pillows. They loved the varying colors. They expressed immediate excitement over the idea of getting special seating.

    Currently, the students are learning about the Classical Greek and Roman civilizations. They are looking forward to using the floor pillows as they work in small groups to annotate articles and organize new learning in our GRAPES charts.”

  • AP European History Prep Books

    Funded Oct 15, 2021

    The AP European History Prep books are proving to be incredibly useful for the high schoolers. The prep books are allowing the students to maximize reading and studying time. The books cover all of the necessary information, providing the students with the opportunity to focus on maximizing instruction. The prep books provide practice multiple choice questions and practice short answer questions. Even better, the prep books offer sample long essay questions and document based essay questions.

    The students use the prep books as a reading tool while working independently. Every class period, the students are offered roughly twenty minutes to independent work time, almost always with a specific course related objective to master. The prep books have allowed the students to combine the daily lecture with the appropriate sections in the book. It has truly increased the levels of engagement and understanding.

    All of the students are enjoying the condensed reading, compared to the traditional and cumbersome textbooks. My Fall semester students are thankful to have a prep book to refer to as they study during this second semester.”

My students pride themselves on their grades. Our current AP European history textbook is bulky, arranged in a manner that doesn't fully follow the Collegeboard format, and does not provide sample questions. The Amsco prep books provide background information and sample questions. This will give my AP students a chance to read the content in a condensed version, both respecting the need to cover the information and respect the students' time. The students will be able to use the smaller than traditional textbooks to pull information for research projects and to add information to in class assignments. This will be especially helpful for completing the unit review guides. The Amsco books are smaller and less bulky than the traditional textbook. It would be much easier for the students to bring the Amsco books to school for every class. We will be able to use the sample questions to practice multiple choice questions and to practice writing essays, helping to set up my students for success on the AP exam.
