These materials will make a difference in the students being able to fully engage and participate in the gardening process. The materials needed will be used for an on campus garden, that has been dedicated to their deceased previous teacher. The student tent to the garden twice a week. They plant the seed, measure their growth in journals, make comparisons between plants, complete investigations of what they can find in the garden, test all foods that are grown, and harvest items for the school community. Students in the garden will be directly connected with NEPF 1 Standard 4-Teacher provides all students opportunities to build on or challenge initial understandings. Student have an opportunity to make predictions and challenge their thinking, just a typical peer. Although these students are considered significantly delayed, they are a part of the ALL STUDENTS. In additional to the previous standard. They will also be accessing Standard 3 Indicator 1-Teacher provides opportunities for extended, productive discourse between the teacher and student(s) and among students. They are provided with the opportunity to share their thinking and wondering with both peers and adults. Through the sharing, they are able to develop their vocabulary and learn to debate and or change their thinking.
