My students entered their seventh-grade year far below grade level. For a year and a half students were required to learn from home when they did not have access to proper learning materials to supplement their learning. My hope is to build a literacy-based classroom that appeals to students no matter their literacy level. I will create and promote a space for students to find their love (or rediscover their love) of reading.   When our school’s librarian passed away last year, our students lost two of the most important parts of our school: a librarian and a library.  After the library closed, my students did not have access to quality reading time nor a dedicated space to encourage their reading. My hope is to bring both of these things back to them this year.
