In today's world it is imperative that students have access to technology in the classroom. Many schools already have 1:1 technology, but our school is still trying to get there. Our students have access to Dreambox Learning (a math learning app) and Reading A-Z (an app for reading and phonics). Both of these are apps that are paid for by the school or district. These are wonderful learning websites, but are not as helpful for students who do not have access to technology at school. Right now, we have some ipads in our classroom, but not nearly enough to get all students on the apps. Once students have learned how to use the apps at school, they can use them at home as well. A great school-home connection to learning! Student access and success is just as important today as it ever has been; and technology plays a big role in this success. This is why we need to make sure that our students have as much access as possible to tools that will help them be successful in learning the Nevada Academic Content Standards. With this technology, students can access Dreambox Learning and Reading A-Z to work towards mastery of standards such as K.NBT.A.1 and RF.K.3 (plus many more!) Students can use these apps during reading rotations, math rotations, and some even choose to use these as their Fun Friday activity!
