Students will be highly engage with our ELA Curriculum and essential question; Why do people explore the sea? Students will read The Giant Squid; is this sea monster is real. What is the story of this mythic creature? Why is it so hard to study? What secrets does it keep? Clyde Roper, ocean scientist and squid expert, has been seeking this secretive creature for decades. In the book, students will read how he and other researchers unravel its mysteries. This book and hand-ons lab will help to answer these questions, make connections and create engagement like no other. Carolina's Young scientist squid kit will pique students' interest in animal anatomy with the squid—a fascinating invertebrate with peculiar structures that students can compare to higher- and lower-level animals. Students will collaboratively work with a partner in order to support conversation and curiosity.
