Working in a public school, we rarely have money in our budgets for art supplies each year. Much of our materials come from family donations. Unfortunately with the pandemic affecting so many families, we have not received many donations this year. Our school is currently hybrid so I have students in person and students learning from home via video chat in my classes. Every month, I send home art supplies to students learning from home so they can make the same projects that the students in school are making. This semester, students are learning about landscapes. We have learned about depth and perspective and the elements of art. With these new supplies, we will be able to take our drawings to the next level and paint our landscapes. Many students have never painted before so now that we understand how landscapes are set up and how the illusion of space works, they will be able to learn a new medium show-off what they have learned. One exciting project is to create a monochromatic painting of a view through a key hole! I also have a project planned to make a mural that looking as if you were walking down a train tunnel. So far, we have been forced to create with limited supplies such as pencils and notebook paper. With this donation, I will be able to expand students knowledge of different materials and allow all students, in person or distance learners, to have fun being creative.
