School closings and social distancing caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has not only caused our students to fall behind academically, but it has also challenged their social skills and relationships with their peers. I would like to create an experience where students can strengthen their academic skills in math while developing social skills and relationships with their peers in a safe and social setting. Creating a fun and exciting learning environment can not only help reduce the chronic absenteeism of some students, but by planning time to allow students to play academically centered math games with their peers will help students reinforce their grade level and IEP required math skills while they develop their social and emotional learning. The items for this project include math oriented card and board games that address students gaps in the NACS that they can use in small groups along with furniture and timer that can be used in conjunction with equipment already in the classroom for fun whole class learning activities.
