If this project is funded, then my students will have their own ukulele in class. They will not have to have a sharing partner. Which means that they will have twice as much time on the instrument and will be able to practice and learn twice as much. Due to covid, many students did not get hands-on instrument experience in the last two years due to sharing and sanitization concerns. This project will help my students meet many Nevada Academic Content standards. Ukuleles will be especially useful for my students to learn the Performing strand's anchor #5: Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation. The standard that will be addressed every day will be MU:Pr5.1.EI Use self-reflection and peer feedback to refine individual and ensemble performances of a varied repertoire of music. Students will also be able to create some of their own music and fulfill some of the Create strand's standards such as MU:Cr1.1.EI Compose and improvise melodic and rhythmic ideas or motives that reflect characteristic(s) of music or text(s) studied in rehearsal.
