Covid came out of nowhere and ripped the floor out from under so many students. Many of these students have worked the majority of their lives fighting to get their way into college. Covid has changed the traditional road to college. Because of the current environment, so many students are being denied access to tour the different colleges and has closed the door on many of the experiences these students rely on to make life-altering decisions. Let's give these kids back this ability! With this DonorsChoose request, Juniors and Seniors will be able to walk the campuses of Harvard, see the grounds of Yale, or even stroll the countryside of Iceland using Oculus technology. Modern technology has made it possible for these students to go where they want to go with the use of virtual technology. If we could provide an Oculus Quest 2 for these students they can go wherever they'd like. They can view the many college campuses that are currently out of their grasp. With the multitude of educational apps, students can work on hand-eye coordination, explore elements for science, emotional control, and work-related skills. It works towards special education transition goal standards. The Oculus has so many resources for these students. They can walk to Anne Frank's house, they can work on hand-eye coordination, they can use it to help calm themselves, and with our school being a STEM-based School, what better technology exists? With two Oculuses Quest 2, we could provide one in each resource room, with headphones to provide each student a more personal experience that helps them be immersed in the experience. Having these two Oculus Quest 2 will allow multiple students in our high school a unique ability to travel, explore, and learn in a new exciting way.
