The technology in this project will directly support a number of our standards in Teaching and Training. For example, one of our most significant standards, 2.2.3, requires students to apply knowledge of developmental theories to meet the individual needs of diverse learners in a group setting. One way we practice this is by having students create educational content, such as videos and audio recordings, that can be used to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. We work hard to create content that is for more than just practice -- we aim to make engaging, useful content that our teachers can use in their classrooms. This project (microphones in combination with tech already provided by the CTE department) will give my students the tools to have the quality of our recordings match the quality of the student-created content. Of course, using technology in this way not only prepares students for a future in education, but it also directly addresses our standard 4.4, which requires student to "explore appropriate uses of technology." It also serves as an object lesson for our standard 4.4.2, which requires students to explore different types of technology integration. Also, this project will also allow my students to run a small digital recording lab that they can train our current teachers to use, so that all our staff can access pro-level tools to create content for all students at our school.
