I am a first-year teacher and am eager to give my students the materials they need to be successful (without breaking the bank). My students have shown me their colorful and wonderful personalities and it has been made apparent to me that their eagerness to move around the room and interact with each other can be a distraction to their learning. I am very aware and empathetic towards the restraints virtual learning has been to kids interacting with other kids. I want to engage their need for social interaction while being mindful of their need to aid their learning. With flexible seating, I can let students get their "wiggles" out with the chair instead of moving around in the classroom. This helps them as they wait for recess and lunch to release their energy and socialize. Based on my student teaching years, I have found flexible seating to be an immense help to "wiggly students" who want to stay focused, but are eager to move around. I would love to implement flexible seating so students can move around while focusing on instruction in class. This is a simple way to help students move around while not bothering neighbors (or me) when they want to wiggle in their seats or wander the classroom.
