These individual center boxes will give students the opportunity to engage in a fun learning experience while still socially distancing and adhering to Covid-19 protocols. Students will be assigned a new box every week for them to explore. After each week, materials will be sanitized and assigned to a different student. This will allow each student to explore new materials and activities each week. There is no limit to the number of standards that can be addressed with each "Build it Box". Engineering standards such as the following will be a main focus with several activities. K-2-ETS1-2 Develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem. K-2-ETS1-3 Analyze data from tests of two objects designed to solve the same problem to compare the strengths and weaknesses of how each performs. K-PS2-1 Plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object. Writing and Speaking and Listening standards will also be addressed as students plan and describe their creations. W.K.2 Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information. SL.K.5 Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions as desired to provide additional detail.
