Fun and functional sensory items will be used in my special education classroom to provide a calming room to assist with emotional regulation. When stress and anxiety rise, students struggle to learn. They struggle with productive relationships and can lose focus on academic tasks.
The goal of our resource room is to reduce negative sensory input and provide calming visual, auditory, and tactile experiences to help students destress. Our room is to help students de-escalate and emotionally reset to be in a mindset to focus on learning.
Your donation of weighted stuffed animals and sports-themed lap blankets are creative ways to encourage mindfulness. Combining sensory sacks and weighted vests will transform our classroom into a fun and functional resource for students.
