Many of the items we are looking to receive for our classroom will help our students immensely with handling the impacts of COVID-19. In the year that we all needed to remain at home, the students were mainly sitting on phones and computers daily, with little to no interaction with anything that was not a technological device. For example, the following items will help them with building (and rebuilding) friendships with each other, as well as build cooperative skills and taking turns: Candyland, Zingo Bingo, dart board, and the cornhole toss game. We would also like our students to develop skills they will need in life that are independent of technology; they will not always have access to technology due to various circumstances, and we would like them to build hand-eye coordination skills, as well as be able to communicate their needs and wants independent of technology. I think the most important aspect of teaching is establishing a respectful rapport with students. With the items requested, I believe myself and my paraprofessional aide will be able to do just. I also want to make learning fun and ultimately easier by the many instruction methods of teaching. Visual, auditory, and tactile materials are necessary to cater to different learning styles and disabilities.
