  • Keep Calm in our Cozy Corner

    The calming corner for the students has been a tremendous help for our students who need a quiet and safe place to go when they are experiencing "big feelings." They have comfortable cushions and beanbags to sit on while they learn to manage and regulate their emotions. The tools and materials has been a great addition to our calming corner where the students can find tools that help them calm their bodies in an appropriate way. When we see that a student is starting to have difficulty with their emotions, we help them identify their feelings first and show them ways to calm their bodies. We are so grateful to all donors who has generously contributed to our calming corner. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Breathe In Breathe Out in Our Calming Corner!

    Since receiving our items for our cozy corner, my students have a safe and quiet place they can go when they are overstimulated and need a place to calm down. It's been great having comfortable seats and cushions they can sit on and relax as well. The resources such as the emotion sliders and gel-bead emotion beads has helped them to identify and express their feelings. The sensory viewers and the mindful breathing board has been a great tool to help them breathe and calm their bodies. The scented play-dough and the calm down cubes allows them to choose and try different strategies to help regulate their feelings.

    When they are calm, I have been showing them the cozy corner and teaching them how to use the many tools and resources. They have been practicing using the different tools as well. My hope is, my students can independently identify their feelings and learn ways to calm their bodies.

  • Outdoor Learning Stations for Preschoolers!

    We are so grateful for your giving hearts to help fund our project! My students were thrilled to see the new, colorful benches in our yard. They especially enjoy the umbrella that keeps them cool during the hot days we experience throughout the year here in Southern California!

    The outdoor picnic table has been so helpful in implementing outdoor centers for my students. Not only are the students able to enjoy eating their snacks on the tables, they are also able to do many activities such as arts and crafts including coloring, drawing with chalk, and painting. They are also able to do more hands-on activities such as play dough, puzzles and blocks.

    As our classroom size continues to grow, I am planning on asking for more benches in the future but in the meantime, we are just so thankful to all the generous donors who helped us fund this project. We instantly saw the positive impact and benefits of having these benches incorporated in our outdoor learning!
