While unpitched percussion were easier to improvise at home, melodic instruments such as barred instruments and recorders are more difficult. Because of this, students haven't been able to receive instruction on recorders for the past few years, which is vital to their music education. Playing recorders helps students read music, learn instrument technique, and helps strengthen their responsibility. The recorder is the first wind instrument many students play before moving to band in middle school. Giving each student their own individual instrument, helped by this project, will allow students to spend more time playing and learning, since I won't have to collect and clean recorders before the next class. This project will support the Performing Strand of the NVACS. MU:Pr.4, Pr.5, and Pr.6.
