Flexible Seating
Funded Mar 31, 2024My students and I are so thankful for funding our "flexible seating" project! We are blessed to now have a variety of options to help keep focused during learning. In my classroom we like to move our bodies and it can often become a distraction, so by having different places and ways to sit throughout the day my students are able to continue with minimal disruptions. We have been using the bean bag chairs in our calm corner where students can take a break and relax. The leaning chairs have helped keep us focused during circle time, and the rest of the seating gives us lots of options to move around and keep us engaged!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.Kovacs' Class
Funded Oct 8, 2021I would like to share the impact the materials and supplies that I received from my Donors Choose project and how they have effected my classroom environment. I am so very thankful, as are my students. In my self-contained, Primary Autism classroom we work on routine and positive reinforcement to help students understand what is expected from them and what is to come, as well as to keep negative behaviors and anxieties down. Among the items requested were some reinforcing materials and some specific to the different preferences in my classroom. I have one student that loves learning about the planets and solar system. He knows more than I do when it comes to this subject and loves to share interesting facts about them. I requested the GeoSafari Motorized Solar System Toy for him and the first thing he said was "Whoa!!" He absolutely loved putting it together and it is one of his favorites still.
I have another student that I am predicting will become a veterinarian or in some way will work with animals. For her I requested the doctors office kit that she practices on the stuffed pets we have in class. She has even peaked the interest of another student to work on the stuffed animals in class.
Many of the the other items I selected were to maintain routine, such as pocket charts, organizational items, and supplies to get me on my way as a new teacher. I especially love my Honey-Can-Do Rolling Storage Cart and Organizer. It has helped get me organized as it can be a struggle learning so many new things at the same time.
Again, thank you so much! I am so very happy with my project and love sharing my experience with Donors Choose!”
With gratitude,
