In 7th grade math we are into calculations that are much larger than the basic number facts. Our curriculum is now using percent, square/cubed roots, and scientific notation. Calculators make these tasks much easier. We are also learning many new formulas for solving equations and proportions with percent, simple interest, income/sales tax and commissions. In geometry, there are formulas for problems to find area, volume and surface area. Displaying these prominently around the classroom and having individual sheets for students to reference and use for study would be a definite advantage. Being able to color code steps for solving problems and to use them in example problems would really make things more clear and much easier to follow for students when solving problems.
