Flexible seating is a win for all students. According to the NVAC standard, students build and maintain relationships, which requires many parts of the day, working together. While they are thriving in the classroom, having the ability for students move while learning or to choose where to learn is valuable for their social and emotional well being. My third graders will work together, maintaining social distancing, or find a quiet spot for independent work using flexible seating. The will take ownership of their learning while being able to interact and learn from one another.
