My students are having a blast playing on our bell kits and marimbas but want to transition to an actual piano. The counselor and I decided to start a keyboarding course. We, unfortunately, don't have any pianos for the class to use and be effective. The class was at first used as a way to encourage students to join the band program, and while I have had success, I would also like to bolster a stronger musician-friendly high school. Many of the students want to learn other instruments besides piano and I feel this is the quickest way to increase the class size for that opportunity. A wider range of instruments, as well as a solid foundation of these instruments, will garner attention and willingness to try the class.
