Feelings Show
Funded Aug 26, 2022When I opened the box with the puppets, my students were ecstatic! Each student reached for a puppet and made an instant connection. It was so very sweet. I couldn't help but to give them free time to play with the puppets.
After a while, I explained why I wanted the puppets and how we were going to use them. To begin with, we reviewed previous social emotional learning lessons on emotions. Then I told them that I wanted them to tell stories dealing with emotions or things that we experience in life. By the end of the week students had ideas and a few of them had time to present a show to the class before our kindergarten section was dissolved.
My next steps with Feelings Show will differ somewhat now that I am a first grade math teacher. Although I am yet responsible for teaching SEL to my homeroom, I anticipate them being able to incorporate reading, writing, and math. Since I am a math teacher, I really want them to use the puppets to tell and solve math stories through videos. That will be awesome. Regardless to changes in grade levels and subjects, I will utilize my resources effectively.”

Plugged In
Funded Dec 22, 2021Your donation for the classroom headphone set of 20 really helped my students. How? It helped them to fully engage in online station assignments. Online station requires students to be able to listen to content and to comprehend it. In order to do that, they have to tune out noise around them.
In addition to online station assignments, students were able to engage through Microsoft Teams in small group and whole group lessons from a distance in the room. In conclusion, the headphones played an important role in their abilities to hear and concentrate on the content. Many students made great gains in reading due to this resource.”
