My students love to read and want to read many of the books in my classroom library. However, most of my students are reading well below grade level. I want my students to continue to love reading as well as giving them skills to read and comprehend texts at grade level. The books I am getting with this project are part of the EngageNY curriculum. Students will be reading chapter books as a class and also in book clubs. Many of these are Magic Tree House books, which I already have many of the series, but not enough for the class or for book clubs. Students will be able to look at how fiction and nonfiction texts set in various countries compare and contrast. They will also be reading Peter Pan and to show their fluent reading of grade level text will be putting on a play for the younger grades.
